To You From Me Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naegle

Update: since publishing this post, Provo Craft has released its own line of Cricut faux leather sheets.

It’s been quite a while since Cricut has released a new cartridge. I am extremely excited about both of these latest releases. The first we will cover today is the To You From Me Cricut cartridge. Ideas started flowing as soon as I saw the designs, and I put my Cricut Explore machine to work.

I was just as excited about this cartridge as I was about the All Occasions Box Card cartridge when it was released.

This cartridge features fun dimensional projects such as wallets, gift card holders, pillow boxes, bags, and boxes. You also get great phrases appropriate for various occasions, such as birthdays, celebrations, and more!

The hardest part of using this cartridge is deciding which project to make. I couldn’t pick just one, so I ended up picking three. If you’ve followed our blog for a while, then you know I have a huge love for owls. This cartridge has two different owls (so naturally, I made both), and the wallet design also caught my eye.

Owl Pillow Box

This first project is an owl pillow box that you can stuff full of your favorite treats for party favors. I wanted to make this as large as possible, so I chose 12″ x 12″ patterned cardstockWhen completely folded, it is about 6.0″ tall and 5.5″ wide, which is a pretty good size box. Pro tip: don’t forget to use quality adhesive on your boxes and bags so they don’t fall apart after the slightest wear and tear.

My second project is the owl lip balm holderIt is designed to fit Evolution of Smooth lip balm, which I love. So this one is for me!

I cut this guy out at a height of 3.25″.

Wallet Project

The last project I made today was the Money wallet, and I wanted to make this something that you could use, at least for a short term. So, I cut the wallet out of Faux Leather. It’s sturdy and won’t tear or rip easily. I cut it out as large as it would fit on a 12″ x 12″, which means you have about 11″ length for storing receipts, bills, etc., within the wallet. To make it look more like a real leather wallet, I used the Cricut Medium Calligraphy marker you get in the Cricut black pen set. The marker has a nice wide tip, which makes the stitches appear heavier.

I hope you have enjoyed these projects. If you use this cartridge, I would love to see what you create. Share them with me on our Facebook page! I can’t wait to see what you make. It’s a good idea to keep your supplies up to date to ensure more precision in your projects. Save on Cricut mats and replacement Explore Air blades.

Happy creating!
