I know this cartridge has been long-awaited, for those of us who prefer to work with physical cartridges vs using digital files. I figure they are the same price, but I want that physical cartridge to have a booklet (it makes it easy to see each of the cuts and determine how to put the layers together). I think the Disney Cricut cartridges have especially small cuts, so the booklet is a must-have.

So I finally got my Disney Frozen cartridge< after waiting a very long time. I couldn’t wait to use it. It was calling my name. 🙂 So, I got right to designing multiple card projects. Just one card wouldn’t do in this case.

I then got carried away and even made a layout for my scrapbook. Here are all the fun details for these three projects:

Frozen Card Ideas

The first card I wanted to make was with Elsa, and I cut her out at 6.25″.  The phrase “A friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.” is from the Anna Griffin Garden Cards and Embellishments cartridge. I just had the Cricut Explore draw it on a 5″ x 7″ card. The second card has Pabbie on it. The phrase was also drawn on the card using the Cricut Explore. The drawing is one of my favorite features of this machine, and even with these small intricate cuts you find in the Disney cartridges, you get precise cuts every time.

Expert Tip: If your cuts are not as crisp as they should be, try checking/changing your German carbide blade first. Thick, quality patterned scrapbook paper tends to dull blades quickly, and changing the blade can usually help. If that’s not the problem, I suggest you use a new StandardGrip 12×12 cutting mat. Sometimes, it’s best to use a new one free of imperfections like paper fibers or small dents/cuts on those small cuts.

Frozen Scrapbook Layout

This layout was a little more work than usual, but I love how it turned out, so it was well worth the extra time. This extra time wasn’t spent gluing or designing. It was spent letting the machine draw the snowflakes – so my tip for this one is to start it drawing and do something else, grab lunch, do the dishes, clean the bathroom, etc. Or just relax, but just know that it will take some time. So, that’s where I started with this layout. I wanted to use Explore to draw the background on my paper.

I used a white 12″ x 12″ sheet of cardstock and the Blue Bonnet pen from the Wildflower pen set and let my machine draw the snowflakes in the background. Tip: You must link the snowflakes together to stay where you lay them out on your page. I love using American Crafts cardstock for my projects. Try Pebbles or the world-famous We R Memory Keepers paper.

Olaf is cut out at 7.5″, and “Always up for an adventure” was cut out at 2.5″ with 2 spots for 4″ x 6″ photos. This layout really was simple, just a little time-consuming. Don’t you love how it turned out? I have many more ideas for projects I can make with this cartridge. That includes using printable iron-on sheets to make custom t-shirts.
