How to Use Sizzix Framelits – Basic Step-Ups

Step-Up Birthday Card finished projectby Richelle Naegle

I generally work on Cricut projects, but I am trying to branch out and try new things. NEW is always good, right? Well, lately, I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from the Sizzix product line. These Basic Step-Ups dies caught my eye.

I have done a step-up card before, and it wasn’t super hard, but it was really a lot of work to get the dimensions just right. So when I saw this new product, I thought maybe this would make creating these fun cards easier, and honestly, it did! I took all the tedious measuring, cutting, and scoring out of the picture and just did what I like to do best: create beautiful crafts with my Big Shot craft machine!

If you want to make these cards or want to do so without all the boring work involved, this set is definitely for you! You need the Step-ups Basic Card set, your favorite machine (I used the Teresa Collins eBosser), patterned paper, and glue! And don’t forget to include any other embellishments you may want. For this card, I also used the Tags w/ Stamps Framelits set for the Happy Birthday tag.

How to Make A Halloween Wreath

by Richelle Naegle For this Halloween Ribbon wreath, I would suggest gathering some of your crafty (and not so crafty friends) over to make this one together. That’s what I did this weekend. I invited 4 friends over and had everyone bring six or seven of their favorite Halloween colored ribbon, and a wreath. We … Read more

Holly and Ivy Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naeglecard made with Ivy and holly

Are you ready to start creating Christmas crafts yet? I’m not, but I know that many of you are already making Yule Tide cards and crafts. Couple that with the fact that there is this new Holly and Ivy Cricut cartridge that just came out. You know me…I want to try all the new cartridges and see what fun images they offer. This snowflake image I loved a lot. It’s kind of ambiguous because it doesn’t necessarily make you think of Christmas. If you used other colors, it would work for other holidays or events. Make it a fun background for a Birthday card or something like that.

We carry all kinds of Christmas Cricut cartridges, so if you already have this cartridge, shop around and try new things.

Straight from the Nest Cricut Cartridge Ideas

card made with Straight from the Nest Cricut Cartridgeby Richelle Naegle

Hello! This last week has been so busy – schools are back in session around here so I had to get my son ready for 1st grade and all the craziness that comes with that. Remember to save on Explore Air machines here at CraftDirect.

I haven’t had as much time as I like to craft, but that will change this weekend. I am so excited! My sister is coming up, and my kids are spending the weekend at grandma’s, so it will be a nice long weekend of scrapbooking and crafting! I am so excited; I can’t wait!

But in the meantime, I’ve been able to create a card with Cricut for my poor friend…this weekend, she got hurt and knocked her two front teeth out. She had to have them put back in, so she is trying to recover for a few days, and I wanted to make her something that will cheer her up a little. So I threw together this quick card so that she knows I’m thinking about her and hopefully to make her smile a little.

CGull Embossing Folders Birthday Card

by Richelle Naeglehomemade card - CGull Happy Birthday Embossed

I am always looking for a quick way to make cards or scrapbook layouts. I don’t know about you, but with kids, work, and such, I don’t have much free time to do super crafty things all the time. One day, while surfing around Pinterest to get inspired, I came across this great Birthday Card that was just embossed and had a year on it.

I’m not much of an embosser. I need to do it more. I love its effect, but working in the printing industry for over 10 years, I have this need for everything to have a nice, dark, clean look. I should let that go sometimes, but that appeals to my eye the most. So, when I emboss, I think that I need to make that part of the image stand out more. I know that’s really not necessary! But this embossed card stood out to me so much.

CGull Birthday Card Project

CGull has made these great embossing folders that I absolutely love. They are not like your standard embossing folder; they have their own unique designs. One of my favorites is the Happy Birthday one. You could seriously get away with just embossing some patterned paper and calling it good, but something inside me keeps me going. 🙂 So here is my version of that card.
