Summer is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited. I love warm weather. I love the rain more, but if it’s not raining I just love when the sun is out and shinning. Here in southern Utah, right now the weather is the perfect temperature (about 85°), and with so many flowers in bloom and it’s just the best time of the year.
Today I wanted to bring some of that outdoor beauty inside with my latest Cricut project. The Florals Embellished cartridge was my inspiration. This is the first time I have used this cartridge, and I know it’s an older one, for some reason I never got around to using this one. After I started exploring it I found that I love all the pretty images on it and it offers many layers for each image. This feature is ideal when you want to have an image with a lot of colors, so perfect for flower designs.
How to Make the Base of the Card
For the base of this card, I actually used this image which doesn’t look a lot like the card but if you take away the top six layers of cardstock then you are just left with a nice curvy background image. This is perfect for a card or the background of a scrapbook layout. I duplicated the Shadow (black) area of the card and then welded two of them together so that I had a nice base for this card. This image was cut out at 5.90″ So that I could fit the background of the card on a 12″ x 12″ sheet of paper.
Love You! was drawn onto the card using the Cricut Explore drawing feature. This is honestly one of my favorite features of these new Cricut machines. I have stamps but I would rather just have it on their then having to stamp them all the time, then I can change what it say’s how’s it’s said and what font it is (VS) having to have the same one on it every time or spending lots of money on sentimental stamps. There are other features of this machine that I do love, but the writing thing is way up on there on the list. Love You! was written on the card itself, using one of the fonts from my computer.
The flower is also from Cricut Florals Embellished cartridge it was cut out 4.25″ then added some orange ribbon to add some dimension to this beautiful card. Remember that Cricut tools will make it easier to deal with all these intricate little pieces.
