CGull Embossing Folders Birthday Card

by Richelle Naeglehomemade card - CGull Happy Birthday Embossed

I am always looking for a quick way to make cards or scrapbook layouts. I don’t know about you, but with kids, work, and such, I don’t have much free time to do super crafty things all the time. One day, while surfing around Pinterest to get inspired, I came across this great Birthday Card that was just embossed and had a year on it.

I’m not much of an embosser. I need to do it more. I love its effect, but working in the printing industry for over 10 years, I have this need for everything to have a nice, dark, clean look. I should let that go sometimes, but that appeals to my eye the most. So, when I emboss, I think that I need to make that part of the image stand out more. I know that’s really not necessary! But this embossed card stood out to me so much.

CGull Birthday Card Project

CGull has made these great embossing folders that I absolutely love. They are not like your standard embossing folder; they have their own unique designs. One of my favorites is the Happy Birthday one. You could seriously get away with just embossing some patterned paper and calling it good, but something inside me keeps me going. 🙂 So here is my version of that card.

I used the CGull Embossing Folders Birthday Card (all of their folders are 5″ x 7″) and embossed the image and then using my Tim Holtz distress ink by Ranger, I inked up the edges and lightly ran it over the top of the image so that everything that was raised would have a nice bold color. The 30 candle is from the Something to Celebrate Cricut cartridge, and I cut it out at 2.25″. Add a little bit of brown ribbon to it, and it was done. The total time spent making this card was about 10 min. If you were in a huge rush, you could do it quicker than that by not inking, and you wouldn’t even have to put the age on the card.
